A CT (Computed Tomography) scan uses X-rays and advanced computer technology to create highly detailed cross-sectional images of bones, organs, blood vessels, and soft tissues. It helps diagnose trauma, stroke, heart disease, fractures, cancer, infections, and more.

Your doctor may advise a CT scan for:
  • Stroke, brain injury, or sudden headaches
  • Lung infections, nodules, or interstitial diseases (HRCT Chest)
  • Abdominal pain, kidney stones, or liver disease

  • Heart & vascular evaluation (CT Angiography / Coronary Angiography)
  • Cancer staging and treatment planning
CT provides quick and accurate guidance for clinical decisions.
  • Wear loose clothes without metal buttons/zippers.
  • Remove jewellery, dentures, belts, and metal objects.
  • Bring previous reports for comparison.
  • Some scans require fasting or contrast dye injection.
  • Inform us if you have kidney problems, allergies, asthma, or pregnancy.

You will lie on a sliding table that moves through a circular machine.

  • The scan is painless and quick.
  • You may be asked to hold your breath for a few seconds.
  • A contrast dye may be given to highlight organs or blood vessels.

Most scans are completed within 5–10 minutes.

CT is generally comfortable.

  • No noise or enclosed tunnel like MRI.
  • If contrast is given, you may feel brief warmth in your arm or a salty taste — both are normal and temporary.
  • After the scan, you can resume normal activities immediately, unless advised otherwise.
